Fat Sal's

When I come across a place that is unique in its style to making something simple, I'm all for it! A friend recommended Fat Sal's to me and I thought, why not! When I got to this small outdoor dive of a place I was very excited. This is the type of place you KNOW is going to be good. The menu took up a whole wall and let me tell you, what exotic combinations to put on a sandwich! After about ten minutes of deciding what I was going to order I decided on the Fat Joey. What's in the Fat Joey, I'm sure you are wondering...well it has, Pastrami, Turkey, Melted Swiss, Cole Slaw, Fries, Russian Dressing all on a Hero. The best, most flavorful, delicious sandwich I have had in a long time! The Russian dressing and Cole slaw were such a great flavorful addition to this sandwich. To top it off the sandwich was huge! I brought half home for lunch the next day and it still tasted great. I ordered the seasoned fries which came with Fat Sauch, which was SO delicious. My friend ordered the Fat Jerry which includes; Cheese steak, Chicken fingers, Motzerella sticks, Crisp bacon, Fried egg, Fries, Mayo, Ketchup, Salt & Pepper all on a hero. She was extreamly satisfied with her choice of sandwitch as well. She ordered the cheese fries which had crispy melted chedder cheesse ontop, also a good eat. These are just two of thier any choices on the menu. You can create your own combination sandwitch as well! A fun thing Fat Sals has is the Big Fat Fatty challenge. The sandwitch is$23.95 and if eaten whole, within 20 minutes, it's free! As well as you get to create your own Fat sandwitch to be added to the menu. Let me give you an idea about whats in the Big Fat Fatty; Cheese steak, cheeseburger, pastrami, chicken fingers, bacon, motzerella sticks, fried eggs, jalapeno poppers, fries, onion rings, chilli, marinara, fat sauce, all on an 18' garlic hero. Wow!

So if you are ever in the UCLA area and are hungry for a good sandwitch, Fat Sal's is the place! Come hungry and ready to try something crazy! Dont be a baby and get a turkey sandwich! You can go to Subway for that! Here at Fat Sal's its about the experience of trying something new and probably unhealthy, but hey! It's well worth it!

Kitchen 24

It's not very often you can find a 24 hour diner that actually serves good food. Most of them have limited menu choices late at night and well lets be honest, the foods not that great. When I came upon Kitchen 24 I was skeptical at first. I was thinking a Denny's style diner. Let me tell you, I was very wrong. Kitchen 24 is located in Hollywood and I almost drove right past it on my way there. It is a small cheque restaurant. The inside decor is very pink and cute. Mood lighting and full bar. The menu is large and the food was delicious!! There were so many options to choose from and everyone around us had great looking food in front of them. I was very pleased with my order. I got the create your own Macaroni, which was more like a gourmet pasta than macaroni. For a 24 hour diner I am very impressed and would recommend this place to everyone! I must also recommend their dessert! I ordered the cookie, which is much like the famous Pazookie... but better! Yes I said it, BETTER than the Pazookie!! So if you are ever up late, or heck just hungry...give this place a try!!

The Stand

Who does not love a hamburger and hotdog joint? I know I love a good American styled burger place when I find one! And The Stand is just that place! With non traditional options you have fun new ways to try your burgers and hotdogs. Order your food at the front and grab a seat, a small wait but the food is made to order, and is hot on delivery to your table. You have an option for a side of home made chips or house slaw. The chips are great! The sweet potato fry are a must try as well, and a substitution for the chips or slaw. I also recommend the hot dogs and the desserts are to die for! They sell a variety of beer and other drinks. Monday night The Stand offers dollar dog night which is a great deal for some good food! They also offer a discount card which helps save you some money and gives you special offers with your purchases. The Stand also offers a variety of other things on their menu such as, salads, chicken sandwiches sausages, a variety of sides, breakfast options, and the list goes on. With several locations around the LA area this place is a got to try spot!

Fab Dogs

Fab Dogs is a little hole in the wall hot dog place that has the most extensive hot dog menu I've ever seen. The hot dogs are inexpensive, and worth the price. I discovered this place when watching the Food Network, it was featured on the show Diners, Drove-ins and Dives. It's off of Tampa right after Vanowen. Since it's such a tiny place, the crowd gets huge fast! You can walk in and have it be completely empty, and within minutes it will become packed. The service there is pretty decent and the people working there are very friendly. All in all, this place is definitely worth a trip to! The hot dogs were very tasty and you have options in how you want them coked. The tator tots are selicious and a must try with your order! I also suggest getting two hot dogs. because sometimes one is just not enough!

Guido's Pizza and Pasta

Nothing like an Italian dining experience while being no where near Italy. At Guido's you can taste the deliciousness of Italy in every bite. If you are hungry for some real Italian food, skip the line at Olive Garden and come hungry here. I ordered the pepperoni pizza which tasted amazing. The cheese had a fresh flavor and the sauce was great. The dough was fluffy and had a home baked taste. You can't experience this flavor anywhere else. My friend ordered a sandwich which she agreed had a flavorful home made taste to it. A must try if you are ever in the area! On the corner of Sherman way and Winnetka you will find this quaint little place. A home like feel inside, with very friendly staff, you can dine in or take out. Prices are great and the selection is huge. Everything made to order! There are lunch specials during the week at great prices and catering is available. Their pizza is a must try and the sandwiches are delicious!

Millions of Milkshakes

One of my favorite places I have been to so far would be Millions of Milkshakes. What a simple concept, a milkshake, any way you could ever imagine it made. Why has this not been done before?! Centered in West Hollywood this place is a hot spot for celebrity sightings. The menu includes picks from your favorite celebrity's, such as the Miley Cyrus, which includes Vanilla ice cream, cookie dough, and Reese's peanut butter cups topped with whipped cream. There are millions of options to choose from! Millions of Milkshakes offers vegan shakes as well as soy options instead of dairy. And if there is none on the menu that satisfy your needs than you can create your own!!

The atmosphere is very hip. With three flat screen t.v.'s showing highlights from TMZ, Twitter, and a video showing all the celebrity's that have visited Millions of Milkshakes. This place is known for its famous visitors and makes you feel like you are a star. With constant Twitter updates you can track which celeb just might be on their way to Millions of Milkshakes. If you are ever in the area or want to make the trip I highly suggest visiting this place.

Brents Deli

Who does not love some good old fashion comfort food? There is nothing like going to a deli when you are hungry for something you know has been passed down by someones great grandma. Brent's Deli has two great locations, there is one in Northridge and Westlake Village. Both locations have plenty of seating and can accommodate large groups. This in one of my favorite places to indulge in with my family. The atmosphere feels like I'm home enjoying my food with loved ones. The selection on the menu is huge! There are many things to choose from for any craving to satisfy. The portions at Brent's are huge and the food is delicious.

If you are experiencing Brent's Deli for the first time, may I suggest trying any of the typical "Jewish foods." This is what most delis are famous for. The Matzo ball soup is outstanding as well as their sandwich selections. The fish plates, such as the lox and bagels, white fish salad sandwich and white fish platter (pictured above) are all delicious tastes of the deli culture. When I'm at Brent's I know I'm eating a meal that is freshlyy prepared and never frozen. The desserts are amazing and I'm always leaving with leftovers!
